The Saints Scoop! – January 5, 2020

January 4, 2020

WELCOME BACK TO LSS IN 2020!!!

While we think about all of the newness of saying “2020” and how strange it still sounds to say, we also ask you to remind your student that we are effectively at the end, as well… with only 3 weeks left in Semester 1 and only 2 1/2 weeks left in regular classes, it is important for our students to be ready to start classes and get back to their Habits of Success on Monday, January 6!  One way is to start getting them back to their usual routines, the most important one to start being bedtime.  When we get enough sleep, we have more energy and our minds work more clearly.  So, talk to your student about getting to bed (with no electronics in the room!) back to normal times, a bit earlier than during the Break, and this will be one step towards them getting ready to finish Semester 1 strongly!

And a little bit of the Blues, too!

Another highlight was the annual FOCUS Breakfast!

We even had retired LSS teacher Mr. Pulice stop by to help!

Mr. Hill looked very Canadian in his toque and plaid shirt, eh?!

Yes, we also held a pyjama day… and some people even coordinated their efforts… impressive!

See below for some of the different activities and presentations!
    • A crowd of almost 100 staff and students gathered in the Large Gym…

…To watch staff get involved in “reindeer games,” such as the sleigh pull…

      …And in a Christmas Gift delivery game…

And in a “wrap the staff member” activity!

They saw an epic “Dad Joke” battle between Mr Van Bergen and Mr. McGovern, as well as other video clips that included the annual Admin video!

They participated in a “This is Me (staff) in Grade 9” Kahoot Trivia challenge… with more than 800 students participating by the end!

They witnessed a staff light sabre battle that started on screen and ended in the gym!

And they saw another electric performance by the outstanding staff dance team, the Groundshakers!
