Computer Studies

The Computer Studies Department offers a wide range of choices for the student to help prepare them for their digital futures. The Department strives to keep up-to-date with the ever changing role that technology plays in our lives.

There are four main streams offered:

1. Graphic and Digital Design — Provides students with a foundation in manipulating and creating 2D and 3D graphics. programs utilized will include Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

2. 3D Animation – Students will learn how to animate and model objects and characters using Blender and Maya.

3. 3D Game Development – Students are exposed to the different aspects of game development. Level design is studied using both Unity3D and the Unreal game engines.

4. Web Design and App Programming — Using HTML5 and CSS3, students will learn how to create attractive web pages. In addition, the scripting language of the web, JavaScript, will be used to add interactivity and improve the functionality of web pages and to develop web apps. These skills will allow students to develop apps Android, iOS, and WP8.

Courses are offered in all four main streams. Students looking to explore all four themes are encouraged to take Introduction to Computers 9/10 (Computer Art). This course introduces students to the four streams of computer studies at LSS.
