Ms. Diane Smillie – Principal
Welcome to the Langley Secondary School website!
We invite you to explore our wonderful school with a variety of programs. We have much to offer and are always delighted to welcome our families to our educational community.
Langley Secondary is a public high school in Langley, British Columbia and part of School District 35. A unique aspect of LSS is that we are the only secondary school serving both Langley City and the Township of Langley. It is the oldest secondary school in the Langley School District, having been opened in 1949 and was recently renovated. We look forward to an expansion in the near future to meet our growing community. Langley Secondary offers programs for students in Grade 9 to 12 and has over 1200 students. In addition to regular provincially prescribed curriculum leading to graduation, the school has academic programs including AVID, a Fine Arts Program, Sports Academies, an Alternate Education Program (FOCUS), and BCIT’s Piping and Plumbing Program which provides post-secondary credit to high school students.
Langley Secondary School is the home of the Thunderbirds with an extensive athletic offering of fall, winter and spring sports. Our students have use of the Township fields, a stadium, a track and a lacrosse box.
Langley Secondary is committed to enrolling a diverse family who share daily life in a healthy, integrated, multi-racial, multi-cultural, and socio – economically mixed experience. Interpersonal and close relationships among and between students and faculty are fostered to create a caring and supportive experience.
Our hope is that all students recognize their strengths, find a place of belonging and be the best they can be. To all the students: “May all that be possible, be possible for you.”
Thank you for visiting us,
Diane Smillie, Principal of Langley Secondary School
